A Woman’s Struggle

If you have had the unfortunate experience of losing a baby, at whatever stage of your pregnancy, suffering through hormonal changes, or just the regular monthly plight,  then you know how it feels to try to recover both emotionally and physically, and get back into the rhythm of life.  There are natural steps you can take which will help you in all areas and can eliminate the need for a D & C. It is wise, if you know you are prone to complications, to put yourself on a regimen that will nourish your systems and fortify your body continuously.  The first thing to do is provide your body with a diet that is clean and filled with nutrient dense foods which will give your body the tools it needs to rebuild and correct. Research shows that diets low in natural fiber and high in processed grains, sugars etc. offer no nutrition for the body. Hormone abnormalities are also linked to greater consumption of meat and dairy.  They begin in childhood and persist into adulthood causing uterine fibroids, cancer and contribute greatly to disease throughout the body (Dr. Joel Furhman, MD, 2011).  If you are experiencing female disorders, take a good look at your diet first, clean it up and simplify.  Your body is capable of taking care of a lot of the problems you experience if you give it what it needs. The Women’s Tea by Crooked House Herbals is just one of many good supplements. The following is a list of herbs that are also very beneficial for a variety of female disorders.

Red raspberry leaf, false unicorn, wild yam, licorice root, vitamin E, sarsaparilla, cramp bark, black cohosh, blessed thistle, ginseng, lobelia and cayenne. These herbs will assist in bleeding issues, help clean out your uterus after a miscarriage, and aid with healing. Horsetail tincture is a natural pain killer.

Maca is great for anyone going through the “change”.  It will lessen or eliminate altogether hot flashes and mood swings.

Goldenseal, cayenne cramp bark and blessed thistle will help rebuild a malfunctioning system (Christopher, 2010).

To distress and calm your body, try taking a hot bath with a bath bag.  Use a handful of comfrey, uva ursi, shepherds purse, and a pinch of goldenseal, cloves and chopped garlic.  Tie them up in a muslin cloth or place them in a bath bag.  Run the hot water over the bag until the tub is full then, float the bag in the water.  Soak as long as you wish.  You absorb much more through your skin, so this is a nice way to nourish your body from the outside while calming and soothing.

Essential oils are wonderful for relieving pain.

Clary sage is great for cramping and that dull ache we feel at times.

Lavender is always a great go-to essential oil for relaxation and soothing, it is also antibacterial.

Finally, take time to de-stress every day.  As women, we carry our stress in our female organs.  I know this from first- hand experience. I was diagnosed with cancer shortly after my husband died from cancer.  I chose to take an alternative approach and after six months I was cancer free, and have been ever since.  My doctor at that time, told me that he believed stress played an integral role in my affliction. For this reason, we need to stop, and take a few minutes every day to breathe deeply, engage in grounding outside in the grass, walk on the sand barefoot, listen to healing music, get a massage, yoga, engage in thankfulness… anything that brings us back to center again.

Diet, De-stress, and healthy herbal foods, will keep our bodies, minds and spirits, healthy, happy and magnificent.  See you on the front-lines ladies…
